Love Island bosses 'advance security measures' for new series after villa break-in

Love Island bosses have confirmed there will be "new security measures" in place this series following a villa breach during last year's show.This year's first 11 Islanders, who were confirmed by ITV in a series of tweets on Monday, will be the first contestants to grace the dating show's brand new Mallorca villa.

It has since been confirmed that Love Island producers are "very conscious about security" this year, with a number of 'new measures' already in place in the new and bigger property.The precautions follow a security breach in last year's show which saw the villa gatecrashed by YouTuber Omer Majid.Speaking to Daily Star, Love Island executive producer Mike Spencer said: "It's a new villa so there are new security measures. "We're very conscious about security so we've got a lot of things in place but the property is bigger so by proxy more security."The security upgrade follows producers ditching the Spanish farmhouse in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Mallorca which was used for the previous four seasons of Love Island.Of his break-in, Omer previously told Daily Star: "I planned it for a while.

I literally flew here just to do that from the UK."I found the area vicinity through internet searches."Then I drove around for about five hours the day before scouting the location trying to find an entry."Originally a six-bedroom villa, the new location boasts a number of cool new features.For the first time in 2022, Love Island contestants will get to enjoy an infinity pool and in-pool sun loungers.The new villa also features the show's largest ever bar area and seating area, with a runway leading up to the all-important firepit where key decisions will be made by this year's Islanders.In other changes, food challenges.
