Harry was educated at Wetherby School, Ludgrove School, and Eton College. He spent parts of his gap year in Australia and Lesotho. He then underwent officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He was commissioned as a cornet (second lieutenant) into the Blues and Royals, serving temporarily with his brother Prince William, and he completed his training as a troop leader. In 2007–08, he served for over ten weeks in Helmand, Afghanistan, but was pulled out after an Australian magazine revealed his presence there. He returned to Afghanistan for a 20-week deployment in 2012–13 with the Army Air Corps. He left the army in June 2015.

Lorraine Kelly got straight to the point in her reaction to Prince Harry appearing to cut ties with the UK, as she gave a blunt four-word reaction.The chat show host discussed Harry registering himself as a US resident in her ITV show Lorraine with royal correspondent Russell Myers, but made it clear she didn't find it surprising as she stated: "That's where he lives".

Speaking on Thursday's episode of her show, 18 April, Lorraine, 64, said: "Prince Harry making a lot of the front pages this morning after officially registering himself as an American resident.

Well, that's where he lives." Harry moved to Montecito in California with wife Meghan Markle and their son Archie in 2020, and daughter Lilibet was born there in 2021.

Lorraine added: "It's where his wife lives and I think the youngest baby was born there." Commenting on the latest royal news, Russell said: "Never a dull moment, first we had Meghan launching her jam range during the week and then we had Harry back to work as it were, on a Zoom call for his company Travalyst, a sustainable travel company he set up in 2019. "But, overnight we've realised that he has changed the details on his Companies House profile to change his residency from the UK to the US." The royal reporter explained more about why it was significant, saying: "The date of the 29th of June (2023) where he says he took up residency in the US is when he was pretty much asked to leave his Frogmore Cottage house along with Meghan and the family.
