Lockerbie train passengers are being urged not to travel on Friday due to Storm Éowyn.The Met Office has issued a red weather warning for parts of Dumfries and Galloway, with gusts of wind of up to 100mph possible.As a result, Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express – the only train operators who stop at Lockerbie – are warning passengers to make alternative arrangements.An Avanti statement read: “We’re advising customers not to travel north of Preston or on our North Wales route on Friday, January 24, due to the expected disruption by Storm Éowyn.“Elsewhere in the UK, there is still a risk of disruption to your journey due to the impact of Storm Éowyn.
We strongly recommend that you check before you travel.“If you are due to travel north of Preston or on our North Wales route on Friday, January 24, then your existing ticket can be used on any Avanti West Coast service via the same route from Thursday, January 23, until the end of service on Sunday, January 26.
