Restaurant creates 'Boris burger' made with 10 patties and 'no compassion'
WalesOnline. The “shifty burger” – as it’s also known – was planned as a joke, but after going viral they claimed they “just had to” add it to the café’s roster. And, they say they’ll offer the “beast” to anyone with a lack of remorse.Barry Sidings Cafe posted their “Boris Burger” on social media and requests from commenters begged to know how they could get their hands on the dish. Some even asked if the award-winning cafe catered for “work events”.The indulgent burger comes with 10 hand-pressed 4oz beef patties, supplied by local company The Gourmet Butcher, layered with 20 slices of Monterey Jack cheese in a toasted brioche bun.Jamie Rowland, who owns the cafe in Barry Sidings Countryside Park, said: "We've always wanted to have a bit of fun with our food, after all the questions and messages surrounding the joke, we've now added it to the menu."I don't think the chefs are too happy with me though.”The venue, which uses local ingredients, was opened five years ago by Jamie after he ran a successful bike shop – and it’s themed around cycling thanks to the bike trails that surround it.The “mess” burger costs a massive £35, but is listed as a food challenge where customers can bag a t-shirt as the prize.Jamie, 43, said: "The response to it was crazy, we've reached over 20,000 people on Facebook and it just got me thinking we had to."It's been an incredibly hard time for hospitality and we wanted to hit back to those in power who haven't been listening to the guidance they set out whilst having a bit of fun ourselves.” Want all the biggest Lifestyle news straight to your inbox?
