Liverpool are reportedly not in the race to sign Lionel Messi, despite the Barcelona talisman's desire to leave the Nou Camp.
Messi informed the club of his desire to leave on Tuesday and every major side in Europe has been linked with his signature.
However, according to a report from Sky Sports, Liverpool are not looking to bring Messi to Anfield, having 'ruled themselves out of any potential move'.
Messi has a clause in his contract which allows him to end his stay at Barcelona but the club are adamant that the clause has expired.The 33-year-old believes that the extension of the season due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which saw the campaign officially end in August, means the clause has also been extended and he can execute it.
