Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.

He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,

Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.

Liverpool fans were left red-faced after prematurely setting off a flare during their 3-1 win over Wolves on Sunday.The Reds headed into the weekend's Premier League finale with an outside chance of pipping Manchester City to the title if Pep Guardiola's side slipped up at home to Aston Villa.

And Anfield was on tenterhooks after Villa surged into a 2-0 lead at the Etihad - but the reigning champions fought back to deny Liverpool a 20th domestic crown.At one stage, the Reds knew they needed just one Aston Villa goal to hand them the title - and unfortunately, a number of fans were sucked in by a false rumour that Villa had made it 3-3 in the dying moments.That led to some eager Liverpool fans setting off a flare in the crowd, but ultimately the Reds were left empty-handed on a dramatic final day in the Premier League.

Man City lifted their fourth title in five years after a dramatic turnaround at the Etihad Stadium.With Liverpool relying on a favour from Aston Villa - who were led by Liverpool favourite Steven Gerrard - the Anfield crowd did their best to keep their side abreast of developments elsewhere and produced emphatic reactions to Villa's goals.But Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson admitted after the match that the Reds stars were struggling to stay up to date with developments at the Etihad.Do you think Liverpool deserved to pip Man City to the title?
