Little-known driving rule that could mean fine for having ice scrapers or hats in car

Temperatures across Scotland and the rest of the UK have plunged this week, meaning many of us will likely have donned some extra layers when setting off on a journey.And if you've chosen to wear gloves or a hat, or been forced to scrape your car windscreen before travelling, it's likely you've put these items back in your car as you set off.

However drivers have been reminded that it's important to consider where you actually place these items in your car. Experts warn that storing them incorrectly could see you landed with a hefty fine if you're caught.

Most drivers will be aware that your windscreen must not be obstructed by snow or ice when you're driving, as this could cause an accident.

But Liverpool Echo reports that having objects on your dashboard too could also see you face fines of up to £2,500. Because of this, it's important to store anything away separately so that they don't block your view.
