Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has been called up by Argentina despite being sidelined with a knee injury. Martinez has been sidelined for the majority of this season with a foot injury he sustained last September.
The injury caused the centre-back to be in recovery for nearly four months before he made his return for United in January. The defender only played three Premier League games for United before he suffered a knee injury against West Ham on February 4.
United confirmed that Martinez would be sidelined for a further eight to 10 weeks while he recovered from a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee.
That timeframe would put Martinez on track to return to Erik ten Hag's matchday squad in early April. Now an update has emerged that will provide a boost to the player and United.
