Lionel Messi is reportedly remaining defiant in his determination to force through a transfer to Manchester City, despite La Liga having backed Barcelona.
La Liga issued a statement on Sunday insisting that a get-out clause allowing him to leave for free this summer is not longer valid.
It means Messi will now have to win a £624m legal battle in order to secure his dream reunion with Pep Guardiola at City. Otherwise, any suitors will have to either meet the atsronomical buy-out clause or hope they can negotiate a lower transfer fee with Barcelona.
