The Northern Irish actor, 56, managed to keep his role in his BBC cop drama Line of Duty completely secret until he was revealed onscreen as dodgy detective Marcus Thurwell.
His first appearance was just a fleeting glimpse of the actor in mug shots seen on Steve Arnott's computer, leaving fans waiting for his big cameo in last night's show.
