Martin Compston to become the next James Bond. The 62-year-old, who plays Superintendent Ted Hastings on the hit cop drama, lent his support to the Greenock -born actor amid rumours that he could take over as 007 in the future.

Martin would become the second Scot in history to take on the coveted spy role if the speculation becomes true.And Adrian hopes that his colleague takes the part of his Line of Duty outfit with him.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast yesterday, Adrian said: “There is talk at the moment that number one Martin Compston may be going on to play the next James Bond.
