The Argentine prosecutor's office has announced that three people have been charged in connection with Liam Payne's death after the One Direction star died last month.
Liam, 31, died after falling from his third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur Hotel in Argentina. The prosecutor's office has said in a statement that three people were arrested and charged with "abandonment of a person followed by death, supply and facilitation of narcotics", according to Sky News. The statement, issued by prosecutor Andres Esteban Madrea, said: "Liam Payne was not fully conscious or was experiencing a state of noticeable decrease or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall." The statement went onto say that one of the accused "accompanied the artist on a daily basis" during his stay in the Argentinian capital, while another of those charged was a hotel employee. The prosecutor's office said that it had analysed 800 hours of video from security cameras and public roads, conducted a "forensic extraction" of Liam's phone and received several dozen testimonies.
Meanwhile, their investigation revealed "at least four supplies of narcotics" and the results of the singer's toxicology tests revealed that he had alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant in his system before his death. The statement added that Liam "did not adopt a reflex posture to protect himself from the fall" so it can be inferred that he may have fallen "in a state of semi or total unconsciousness".
