Liam Broady was on the receiving end of a serving masterclass as he went out of the Bratislava Challenger 6-4 7-6 (6) in a high quality second round clash.
Big-serving German Maximilian Marterer sent down 20 aces without a single double fault as he just edged out the British left hander in a dramatic second set.
Stockport’s Broady went behind in the fifth game when his forehand went wide, but he had a chance to break back when a brilliant crosscourt backhand on the run brought up a break point.
However Marterer snuffed out the danger with a crosscourt winner to stave off the break point and sealed the game with two more aces.
