‘Legally Blonde’ Prequel Casts Lexi Minetree As Elle Woods
deadline.comAmazon MGM Studios and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine have cast Lexi Minetree (The Murdaugh Murders) in the role of “Elle Woods” to lead its upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series.
As Deadline reported exclusively earlier this week, Minetree was one of the finalists competing for the role originally played by Witherspoon in the hit romantic comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003).
Witherspoon broke the casting news via social media this morning. “Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle.
And today, I got to break the news myself! Meet @leximinetree” Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.
