Viewers were left utterly gobsmacked and very disturbed when a contestant 'died' during a game show on The 1% Club host Lee Mack's quiz show.

It led to a flood of complaints to the broadcaster – but all was not as it seemed.The TV episode in question was part of the darkly comedic series Inside No 9, broadcasted on BBC 2 last year, which featured a fictional game show called 3by3.

It was recently revealed that the iconic satirical series is ending after 10 years on air. Fans were thrown into confusion, with some failing to recognise it as a new instalment of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton's anthology series, mistakenly thinking they were watching an actual quiz show.The premise of the game saw three teams of three contestants each vying for a chance to win up to £20,000.

Lee kicked off the show with his usual charm, jokingly saying: "Hello I'm Lee Mack and welcome to 3by3, the brand new quiz show that gives three teams of three people three chances to win a big money prize." He quipped about the budget constraints, adding: "Well, I say big money, this is the BBC.
