Lee Bullen reckons Ayr suffered a sharp dose of reality as their league season got off to a losing start at Cappielow this afternoon.
United blew a second half lead as Morton roared back to win a bad tempered affair which saw eight players booked in Greenock.
And Bullen warned his players to heed the early season warning after they failed to pass the physical test.He said: "We got exactly what we deserved - Morton were the better team and were more up for the battle than us.
We got sucked into a fight that for long spells we didn't stand up to. Morton are about far more than the physical stuff, but you know that coming here, standing up to that side of things is the minimum required of you and we didn't do that."Defensively we were really, really poor for the goals.
