Perth and Kinross last week. It is the highest weekly figure since the week beginning July 19 after a huge rise in cases.It brings the total number of death certificates to record the coronavirus as a cause of death in the region to 272 since the crisis began last year.
The Scottish total of 58 deaths was the highest since late March, with the virus circulating more freely following the relaxation of almost all COVID restrictions by the Scottish Government last month.
However, with the vaccine programme continuing, it remains well below the peak of April last year and January this year. The seven day COVID infection rate continues to rise in Perth and Kinross and is now at its highest level since July 10.
