‘It’s turning a very negative situation hopefully into a positive one,’ Una Ring told Late Late Show viewers of hers, and Eve McDowell’s campaign to have stalking recognised in Irish legislation.
Both women appeared on the show to discuss why they are pushing the government to acknowledge incidents of stalking. Eve found herself followed by a friend of a friend while a student at NUIG.
The situation took a sinsiter turn when he entered her home and attacked her with a hammer. He is currently serving a seven-year sentence.
Una was stalked between February and July last year, by a former work colleague, James Steel who eventually broke into her home with the intent to rape her.
