Large police presence spotted at Edinburgh coastal spot amid ongoing incident

Emergency services raced to an Edinburgh coastline this afternoon following an ongoing incident. Locals reported seeing a "huge" police presence on Lower Granton Road at around 3pm.

The coastguard and lifeboats were also in attendance. Residents claim they were seen searching the water. Images from the scene shared with Edinburgh Live show multiple police vehicles and an HM Coastguard van parked by Wardie Bay.

A search and rescue helicopter is also believed to have been dispatched. The nature of the incident is unknown at this stage.Another image from the scene shows officers on Wardie Bay, with members of the public wrapped in towels.

A local resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said: "Huge police and coastguard presence at Wardie Bay."A second added: "Police, coastguard, a lifeboat and several other boats appear to be searching the waters east of the Eastern Breakwater."Lower Granton Road is now partially blocked by the emergency service vehicles.
