A large cordon is in place in Eccles this evening following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car. Part of Liverpool Road (A57) has been shut by police as investigations into the incident are carried out.
It is thought the collision first happened at around 7.30pm, with a section of the road still closed off. Police have shut the road off from New Lane to Parkside Avenue, with diversions currently in place. A red Toyota Aygo has been seen within the cordon with a smashed windscreen, at the junction with Alexandra Road.
Bus operator Go North West also issued a service announcement at 7.45pm alerting people to the diversion following the incident.
