The Los Angeles Police Department on Monday released numbers concerning arrests and damage done to property on Sunday night after the Lakers won the 2020 NBA Championship.
What started as a peaceful gathering outside of the Staples Center turned into trouble as some of the demonstrators turned violent, police said.
The final numbers were 76 people arrested and more than 30 buildings damaged, police said. Also, eight officers were injured (the severity was not released).
Among the crowd, two were injured when police fired "less-lethal munitions." Shortly after the Lakers secured their 17th title, hundreds of fans began to descend on the Staples Center area.
