Lanarkshire thug struck partner before crashing car while under influence

A Lanarkshire thug attacked his partner then crashed a car after storming out of the house. Paul Coulter, who was under the influence at the time, acknowledged his behaviour was "absolutely disgraceful".

Coulter, 40, appeared from custody via videolink at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday. The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Coulter also admitted driving while disqualified and while unfit through drink or drugs, and failing to stop after a crash.In 2016, he was jailed for three years and nine months for a serious assault on a woman at her home in Glasgow.The latest attack followed a row between Coulter and his partner at a pub.They went home separately and another argument started, with Coulter demanding to know where the car keys were.Abby Seal, prosecuting, said: "He struck his partner twice on the head with a metal kitchen roll holder, causing a cut."He then drove off in the vehicle."At around 3am, residents in Laburnum Road, Viewpark, were wakened by a "loud bang" and saw their car had been hit by another vehicle, causing "drastic" damage.Coulter was seen leaving the area.Defence agent Marisa Borland blamed alcohol for her client's behaviour.She stated: "He
