Lanarkshire teen left impaled on post after crashing bike into broken garden fence

A Lanarkshire cyclist was left with horror injuries after colliding with a garden fence and becoming impaled on a post. Cole Cummings was cycling on a footpath near to his home in Coatbridge on March 19 when he smashed into the post from a wooden fence that was falling over into the street.The post plunged into the 19-year-old's chest, tearing a hole through his skin, before he was raced to Monkland's hospital in Airdrie.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

"It was a really sunny day and I didn’t see the fence sticking out.

I cycled right into it and one of the fence poles went through my chest.“It left a really deep hole in my chest. I was raced up to the hospital in an ambulance straight away.”Cole spent a week in hospital and was transferred from Monklands to Wishaw General for an operation to treat his wound.Now the teen is hitting out at Clyde Valley Housing Association (CVHA) and claims they neglected to carry out repairs to the fence, resulting in the accident he says has caused him to lose out on a job opportunity.Cole told us: "The fence leaning on to the path had already been reported to CVHA, but they seemed to have no intention of fixing it."I was working at Muller Dairy in
