Lanarkshire school hosts speakers and activities during mental wellbeing week

A Wishaw school organised a number of events before the spring break focusing- on pupils’ mental wellbeing and safety.Calderbridge Primary School had visits from a number of speakers as part of its Rights Respecting Schools Week.These included visits from the emergency services, charities and a chance to try a range of activities outdoors.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

She told Lanarkshire Live : “We have been visited by Canine Scotland who brought along a Therapet dog called Tia. “Tia helped us to learn about some of the supports that are available for mental health and how these can benefit us.“We also had members of Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in to talk about their role in the community and how they help us to be safe, a right all children have.Finally the senior school received a workshop with Nil By Mouth.“This charity focuses on sectarianism within Scotland and aim to educate pupils on having the right to their own opinion and how we should be a diverse society.“The whole school have also had added outdoor activities and play room time slots to support children's right to play and their right to choose their friends and join
