Lanarkshire primary school pupils enjoyed hands-on experience of construction skills during a visit to the new active travel link being built at Ravenscraig by North Lanarkshire Council.
The pupils from Our Lady and St Francis Primary School in Carfin took part in activities organised by contractor Covanburn Contracts.They learned about different methods of measuring, the various jobs involved in a construction site, and how the diggers and other machinery operates.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Francis Primary said: “This was a wonderful and exciting opportunity for our children to be involved in.“The children found learning about the various roles in construction particularly interesting and to see the work happening in their own community was something special.”The school visit was organised by the Covanburn Contracts, as part of the community benefits element of the contract, and Developing the Young Workforce which aims to prepare learners for their future pathways and the transition into the world of work.
