Lanarkshire pensioners still waiting for street repairs - months after being told they were a priority

Pensioners in Cambuslang are still waiting for improvements to be made to their pothole-ridden street - nine months after South Lanarkshire Council declared repairs would be made.Residents at Maple Tree Court complained last year that cracked pavements, numerous potholes and poor road conditions meant they felt unsafe when leaving the housing complex, which consists of 54 flats.The road comes partly under South Lanarkshire Council’s (SLC) jurisdiction and partly under Hanover Scotland, who own the homes there.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

We were contacted by a local who is friends with some residents at Maple Tree Court. She told Lanarkshire Live : “Nothing has been done about this. "It is still in a shocking state and it still feels like you are going to fall over every time you are walking there.“The footpaths and the surrounding areas don’t seem to have been swept in years either,- so there are tree branches all over the place and that makes it even more dangerous.“Something really needs to be done about it, because it can’t continue to be left in such a state.”Last year residents there expressed fears that
