Lanarkshire motorists warned of eight-month closure of busy road

Motorists are being warned of delays as of next week with the closure of a busy Lanarkshire road. The A725 Bellziehill Junction north overbridge (A721 eastbound) in Bellshill will close for eight weeks.

The roadworks begin on Sunday, June 26 for as essential bridge deck waterproofing and re-surfacing works are carried out.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Get all the news from your area – as well as features, entertainment, sport and the latest on Lanarkshire’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic – straight to your fingertips, 24/7.The free download features the latest breaking news and exclusive stories, and allows you to customise your page to the sections that matter most to you.Head to the App Store and never miss a beat in Lanarkshire - iOS - Android On this overnight closure the road will be shut from 10pm until 6am.The north overbridge of Bellziehill roundabout which carries the A721 eastbound carriageway will be closed to traffic between the A725 northbound on slip road and the A725 southbound off slip at Bellziehill Junction.The A725 northbound and southbound off slips and on slips at Bellziehill Junction will remain open to traffic, while pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpaths on both the north and south side of Bellziehill roundabout overbridges.The closures are required to ensure road user and road worker safety whilst essential bridge deck works are undertaken.In order to minimise disruption as far as possible, Scottish Roads Partnership has scheduled the works during the school summer holidays.The closure will be in place 24/7 for the duration of the works and road users are being advised to allow extra time for your journey or use an alternative route if possible.S
