Disruption warning as Orange Walk expected to gather crowds of 3000

Scots residents are warned that over 3000 people are expected to hit the streets in Ayrshire this weekend for an Orange Walk.

Police Scotland announced today that the parade in Ayr town centre will attract thousands of people and that locals should expect disruption to traffic.

There will be 27 bands in the procession and it will leave from the town's Low Green at 11:30am and is expected to last until 3:30pm.

The 27 bands are coming from across Ayrshire, Bellshill, Paisley and Northern Ireland.The County Grand Lodge of Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Argyll are organising events and they advise that the route will leave from Low Green and make its way to a nearby war memorial before heading along Miller Road and onto Sandgate before making its way back to Low Green.A spokesperson for South Ayrshire Police said: "Orange Lodge Parade in Ayr at 11:30am on Saturday July 2."It is expected 3000 plus people and 27 bands will travel to Ayr."The parade will take place in the town centre and is likely to cause traffic disruption.
