Lanarkshire community groups encouraged to apply for funding

New funding has been made available for community groups in Lanarkshire that provide short breaks and services to carers.The Creative Breaks programme is now open to applications and provides a 12-month grant to third sector organisations to create and develop projects for both carers of adults and young carers and the people they care for.Creative Breaks is a funding programme of the Short Breaks Fund operated by Shared Care Scotland on behalf of the Scottish Government.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Amanda Moffat, Short Breaks Fund Grants Officer, told Lanarkshire Live : “Over the course of the last funding round Creative Breaks supported a total of 44 projects – with an average grant of £13,000 - to deliver short breaks to more than 4000 unpaid carers across Scotland. “Breaks from caring are a vital part of unpaid carers being able to look after their own health and wellbeing and having suitable short break services available locally is an essential part of this."We encourage organisations in Lanarkshire to consider applying to the Creative Breaks funding programme for a grant to deliver short breaks
