Lanarkshire army musician earns sports success

A Lanarkshire teacher is top of the class after hitting the heights as an army reservist, earning a place in its national football team as well as travelling abroad as a musician.Corporal Stuart Pollock has served with the Reserve Highland band, part of the 7th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, since 2005.The Larkhall resident, whose day job is as a music instructor with South Lanarkshire Council, has also been selected to play for the Army Reserve team, going on to play in two cup finals.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Stuart was additionally selected for the football team after being spotted in action by an army scout.He added that being an infantry reserves member has benefited his “team work, collaboration and determination as well as massively improving my musical skills”.
