Celtic seem likely to lose their four Japanese players to AFC World Cup qualifiers at the end of this month - as the 'high public interest' means they will be let into Japan.

Strict Covid travel rules resulting from the emergence of the Omicron variant raised the possibility that Kyogo Furuhashi, Daizen Maeda, Yosuke Ideguchi and Reo Hatate would all have to stay in Scotland.

Japan take on China and Saudi Arabia on January 27 and February 1 with the derby against Rangers to follow a day after the second match in the double header.
