Kourtney Kardashian injects plasma into her skin – and braves it without numbing cream

Kourtney Kardashian has given fans an insight into her beauty regime after having plasma injected into her skin, more commonly known as PRP (platelet rich plasma) face treatment.The 42 year old filmed LA-based plastic surgeon Dr Jason Diamond administering the injection to her face, sharing the footage to her 162 million Instagram followers via Stories. “I LOVE TORTURE DAY WITH @drjasondiamond” she captioned the clip, adding “INJECTING PLASMA” on the following slide.

In the video Dr Diamond explained of the procedure, “It has a lot of benefits for a lot of different areas, but for you I’m injecting these little blemished areas.” What’s more Kourtney underwent the procedure without any numbing cream, which she confirmed she “never” uses on the following slide, at one point exclaiming “ooh, that one hurt!” PRP treatments – which use your own plasma-rich blood – have a number of reported benefits for the face, including improving skin texture and tone, reducing breakouts and scarring and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

It's also used as part of the “vampire facial” that Kourtney’s sister Kim Kardashian helped to make famous a few years ago – although Kim has since revealed on her website that it’s “the one treatment that I’ll never do again” because it was so painful.

As Kourtney got engaged to fiancé Travis Scott in October, her PRP injections may be part of a longer term beauty regime in the lead-up to her big day.The couple announced their engagement on Instagram with a couple of intimate snaps taken on the beach where Travis proposed, with Kourtney simply captioning them “forever”.
