King Charles has made his first public appearance since his brief hospital stay due to side effects from cancer treatment.The King was all smiles as he led an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle today, signalling that he's ready to resume his regular work schedule after cancelling Friday's engagements.

Charles honoured several notable individuals and community leaders at the ceremony. Among the recipients were TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh, who received a CBE for his contributions to horticulture and charity, and reigning world heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who was awarded an MBE for her services to athletics.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson described the King as being in “good spirits“, while Alan Titchmarsh also praised him for his “boundless energy”.

Johnson-Thompson said after the ceremony: “He seemed in good spirits. You know it’s long, all day, because so many people are getting honoured today. “So he seems in really good spirits and I’m happy to see that he’s fit and well.” Asked about her conversation with the King, the Liverpool athlete said: “We were just chatting about… the toll that athletics puts on, or sports puts on the human body, and just how long I’ve been doing it.
