King Charles‘ weekend visit to France has been postponed. On Friday (March 24), it was announced that the 74-year-old King of England’s visit to Paris and Bordeaux had been postponed amid the ongoing violent protests against the French government. Keep reading to find out more… King Charles and French President Emmanuel Macron had a conversation on Friday morning before they mutually decided it was best to postpone the trip, according to The Guardian.
The Élysée Palace then released a statement confirming the news, in which they said they hoped to welcome King Charles “in conditions that correspond our friendly relations,” adding that the visit will be rescheduled “as soon as possible.” King Charles was scheduled to arrive in France on Sunday (March 26), marking his first state visit since becoming King following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth in September 2022.
From France, King Charles was scheduled to travel to Germany on Wednesday, March 29. Millions of people all across France have been protesting President Macron‘s recent decision to raise the pension age from 62 to 64, which was pushed through Parliament without a vote last week.
It was recently reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton are in a “debate” regarding the role that their 9-year-old son Prince George will play in King Charles‘ coronation.
