Sky News' Kay Burley halted her morning show to announce a breaking news update on Tuesday. During her breakfast show, Kay told viewers that the UK's population is on course to swell to 72.5 million by mid-2032.
She highlighted that this growth spurt is largely propelled by net migration, with an anticipated influx of around 4.9 million by 2023, as per the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
By 2032, with an estimated increase of five million denizens, the population figure is projected to soar. Discussing the stats, Burley noted, "They are telling us that the UK population is projected to rise by almost five million, that's 7.3 per cent from 2022 to 2032." Furthermore, she probed Prime Minister Keir Starmer's infrastructure plans, alluding to vital requirements: "All that infrastructure that we're hearing about from the prime minister, we're going to need it, aren't we?
Because apparently the population is projected to rise by 7.3 per cent in the next 10 years." Wrapping up her segment, Burley pondered, "Almost five million extra people here in the UK during that time.
