Katy Perry hinted she knew the 'real truth' about Russell Brand in a resurfaced interview following their split. Brand, 48, was the focus of a Channel 4 and The Times’ collaborative Dispatches episode where he faced allegations of rape, sexual assault, and controlling and emotionally abusive behaviour.

On Friday night, he released a statement denying the ‘very very serious allegations’ in a video posted across his social media platforms.Katy tied the knot with the comedian on October 23, 2010, but split 14 months later.

In a chat with the Sunday Times in 2013, distraught Katy admitted that her split from the comedian gave her a "good knock". "I was in bed for about two weeks.

I was pretty f**ked, yes. It hurt a lot," she explained. In a 2013 interview with Vogue, Katy said the comedian had asked for a divorce over text just as she was about to go on stage to perform.
