Kate Middleton channels Princess Diana at Garter Day with moving tribute to late royal

The Princess of Wales appeared to take fashion inspiration from her late mother-in-law Princess Diana for the Order of the Garter yesterday in a stunning polka dot gown.

Kate looked incredible in an Alessandra Rich design as she proudly supported King Charles, Queen Camilla and husband Prince William as she attended one of the royals' most historic services at Windsor Castle.Yesterday's historical Order of the Garter procession was Charles' first as King and is known for being one of the most colourful events in the royal calendar.The service sees royals sporting grand velvet robes and feathered hats for a procession from the castle to St George's Chapel for a private service before they return in horse-drawn carriages, the Mirror reports.

Kate Middleton who is not the order and therefore not eligible to wear the special robes and hat instead wowed fans in an elegant polka dot design dress which looked undeniably similar to a gown worn by Diana at Royal Ascot in 1988 designed by Victor Edelstein.Kate's Jennifer Chamandi white heels with a black pointed toe are almost a mirror image of the ones worn by Diana at Ascot with the Princess of Wales completing her look with a pair of pearl earrings that once belonged to her late mother in law.Before Diana married Charles in 1981, she was gifted an exquisite pair of pearl earrings from jewellers Collingwood as a wedding present which have now seemingly been passed on to Kate who has worn them many times.Kate stood with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh who opted for a bright floral dress by Emilia Wickstead and a bright pink headpiece by Jane Taylor Millinery as they both watched the procession.At one point, the two royals were seen holding on to their hats to stop them from blowing
