Kate Garraway grappled with tears as she accepted an award at the National Television Awards for her documentary about her husband Derek Draper’s battle with COVID-19.
The British broadcast took a moment after the announcement that she had won the NTA for Authored Documentary before making her way to the stage with her production team.
She was greeted with a huge hug from Davina McCall on stage and then was visibly upset as she clasped her statue. Receiving a standing ovation, the Good Morning Britain host had to step away from the mic initially because she was overcome with emotion and in the moving scenes she was seen crying as she looked down at her award.
