Kate Garraway's friends stepped in to help the mum-of-two pay her bills when the telly star took time off during husband Derek Draper's long illness.
The Good Morning Britain presenter is self-employed, as is her husband Derek - meaning her income was suddenly slashed substantially when he was hospitalised a year ago.
He remains in hospital, still fighting the aftereffects of Covid. Kate, 53, needed time off during the first few weeks when she was supporting their two children amid uncertainty if Derek would even make it - sitting glued to the phone waiting for a call from the hospital.
She tells the Sunday Times Magazine : “Working in television, everybody does get paid a good wage compared with the nurses who are keeping Derek alive.
