Derek, 53, was admitted to hospital in March 2020 after showing symptoms of coronavirus. He was put into an induced coma to help his recovery and woke up for the first time in October last year to tell doctors he was in pain, but he's since been in a PDOC coma (Prolonged Disorder of Consciousness), which means he is generally unresponsive.
In a new trailer for Kate's ITV documentary about her emotional journey as her husband recovers from the effects of Covid-19, after it "attacked everything", Kate can be seen crying in frustration.
