Kate Garraway returns to GMB after taking break to help kids settle into school

Kate Garraway returned to Good Morning Britain today after taking a break to help her children settle back into school. The 53-year-old hosted the first half an hour of today's programme prior to Susanna Reid and Adil Ray taking the helm from 6.30am.

She announced that she would be taking some time off from GMB after having returned in July for the first time since March when her husband contracted Covid-19.

Derek Draper still remains in hospital but has awoken from his coma and is recovering from the extensive damage the virus has done.

Kate had updated fans in July, announcing that Derek had emerged from his coma into a "state of minimum consciousness." She told GMB viewers in late August that she'd be taking some time out to help son
