Kate Garraway was left fighting tears as she supported her daughter through another milestone just months after the death of Derek Draper.

The broadcaster revealed that Darcey had moved out of the family's London home as she headed off to university. Sharing a video showing her loading up her car ahead of a big move to university, Kate - who lost her husband Derek in January, four years after Covid 'wreaked havoc' on his body - told her Instagram followers that it was "such an emotional moment on so many levels".

The Good Morning Britain star appeared in a video loading Darcey's things into the family's new car - which she said would have gained Derek's approval - and some may have spotted a poignant family photo and one of Derek's beloved Panama hats amongs her belongings. "That tiny helpless baby we brought home from hospital 18 yrs ago has gone to uni!

Just like thousands of other parents this weekend I was playing that game of #student jenga trying to get it all in the car. "Thank goodness my beloved Victor Volvo has a massive boot!
