Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan is set to appear in court today, just hours after stepping down from the band. He is accused of assault by beating, relating to an alleged incident on April 9.
Yesterday, the Leicester rock band released a statement on Twitter announcing that singer Tom was leaving due to "personal issues" and that it was a "mutual" decision.
It read: "Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent. "Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. "We will not be commenting further." Later today, the 39-year-old is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court.
