Jurors have retired to deliberate their verdicts in Benjamin Mendy's rape trial. The French footballer, 28, is accused of raping one woman in October 2020, and of attempting to rape a second woman two years earlier.

He has pleaded not guilty to both charges. Both allegations are said to have occurred at Mr Mendy's mansion in Cheshire, while he was playing for Manchester City.

Following a two week trial at Chester Crown Court, jurors were sent out to deliberate at 10.45am today (Friday). Jurors have been told that the case is a re-trial, after Mr Mendy was previously found not guilty of other sexual allegations.
