Scots boxing champion Josh Taylor had to be held back by police ahead of his showdown with Teofimo Lopez in New York City. The Tartan Tornado will bring his 15-month absence from the ring to an end when he faces off against the American at Madison Square Garden - and it looked like Taylor didn't want to waste another second as the fighters came together for the pre-match press conference.

Taylor will look to defend his WBO super-lightweight belt against former lightweight champion Lopez and he had a few words for his foe before the showdown.Taylor exchanged a few words with his foe at the press conference as they prepared for the face-off photo opportunity, while Lopez looked around and attempted to dismiss the champion before the fight.

That appeared to only frustrate Taylor more as he made a move towards Lopez before security stepped in - with a New York City police officer holding back the former undisputed champ.

Taylor has not fought since defending his super-lightweight titles against Jack Catterall in Glasgow at the Hydro. Before the rematch Taylor suffered an injury and the Scot later vacated two of his belts and was stripped of another.
