Manchester City must use the hurt they are feeling in the dressing room after defeat to Aston Villa as motivation to turn their stuttering form around - insisting it could be the best thing that could happen to them.
That is the view of John Stones, who returned to the City team at Villa after another spell out with injury. He looked rusty as Villa overpowered City, who struggled without the suspended Rodri and injured Kevin De Bruyne in the centre.
Defeat at Villa Park means City have not won in the Premier League in four outings, their worst run since Pep Guardiola's first season in charge back in 2016/17.
But Stones believes that the pain his side are feeling now can be a positive thing come the end of the season.
