Rodri's stupendous strike in the second half was the difference but it was so nearly a different story. The Italian giants rallied in the closing moments as they looked to force extra-time and they should have done so.
But Ederson was in their way. Romelu Lukaku had a golden chance with a free header mere yards from goal but he directed his effort towards the Brazilian who was on hand to clear the danger off the line.
The goalkeeper was also called into action in the final moments as he made a spectacular diving save to stop a last-gasp equaliser.
