Former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan insists Hearts holding on to John Souttar until the summer will not present any issues for the rest of the season.

The centre-back has signed a pre-contract deal to move to Rangers, with the Ibrox club confirming the move on Friday. While many Jambos fans are keen for him to be sold immediately, Hearts have insisted he'll remain part of Robbie Neilson's squad unless there is a "significant and satisfactory offer" for him this month.

Discussing the issue on Off The Ball it was put to Sheridan that there may be concerns over Souttar's commitment, even subconsciously, as he looks to avoid injury ahead of his big move.

But the former Kilmarnock forward is confident the big centre-back will give his best between now and the summer. Sheridan insisted: "No player is going to go out, and think, 'In six months time I'm going to another team, I'm going to have a bad game, I'm not going to try.'"Everyone's going to have their own self pride, they're going to want to go out and still do the best they can do."Players aren't going to what to come up to the summer, joining a new team, in bad form.
