Oliver made headlines with his plea to voters, appearing to fight back tears as he told those watching “Look, I love this country.
I’m an immigrant. I chose to be here” and that he would be voting for Vice President Harris. But Oliver told Colbert that he was flabbergasted by how much coverage the clip received. “I wasn’t crying.
I’m British. I’m dead inside,” Oliver said. Oliver later admitted that he “generally” only cries while watching movies on airplanes.
