Horror master John Carpenter will reportedly executive produce a reboot of his 1981 sci-fi cult classic Escape from New York for 20th Century Studios.The 74-year-old director-composer's post-apocalyptic movie centered on soldier-turned-federal prisoner Lieutenant S.D. 'Snake' Plissken (Kurt Russell), who's offered a pardon if he rescues the President of the United States from anti-government insurgents.The $6M-budget film - also starring Ernest Borgnine, Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau, and Isaac Hayes - went on to receive critical acclaim and amass $25.2M at the domestic box office.
